MSHO Represented at Press Conference for Step Therapy Legislation
On Tuesday, March 19, a press conference was held in Lansing to talk about the need for step therapy reform, as addressed by Senator Mike McFall’s House Bill 5339. Step therapy, also called “fail first,” is a practice in which insurance companies require patients to try and fail with cheaper, less effective medications or therapies before allowing them to access their physicians’ originally prescribed treatments. MSHO board member, Dan Isaac, D.O. spoke during the press conference on the impact step therapy has in caring for Michigan’s cancer patients.
